“We Were Determined To Go Through”
During the Government shutdown, the monuments, national parks, and museums were closed to the public. Through honor flights, older veterans travel to the WWII memorial quite regularly, and often for the first time. The government shutdown meant that the memorial was closed, but these veterans were welcomed with open arms despite the caution tape and signs.
Watch as the veterans share what this experience means to them, and how they weren’t going to let the government shutdown prevent them from enjoying their moment.
