Kiersten Downs, an Air Force veteran, journeyed across the country to spread awareness and raise money for the Student Veterans of America.
Kiersten served in the United States Air Force for seven years, including thee tours of duty overseas one of which was in Iraq.
She is now a member of the Student Veterans of America and truly believes in the cause and the organization. Student Veterans of America is a national coalition that provides the resources for student veterans to succeed in education and their future.
The transition from soldier to student can be a difficult one, and reaching out to your fellow peers, and taking advantage of various aiding organizations around you can help immensely.
The cross-country bike ride went from the Pacific Ocean in San Francisco, California to the reflecting pool at the Mall in Washington, D.C. Her ride was both to raise funds for the organizations and raise awareness so that fellow veterans could learn about the opportunities available to them and the networks of support that exist to help them.
