Video Captures Touching Moment Son Relieves Mom From Navy After 30 Years Of Service

A mom serving in the U.S. Navy had the best send-off after 30 years of service when her own son had the honor of relieving her duty.

Zenaida Desiderio of @nonprofitcartel served in the Navy alongside U.S. Navy Master Chief Latonya Luter on the USS Harpers Ferry

The two served together in Japan back in 2005 and made sure to stay in touch throughout the years.

After 30 years of service, Master Chief Luter was ready to retire in Destin, Florida and her fellow shipmates from the USS Harpers Ferry flew in from around the world to watch!

Zenaida managed to capture her send-off on video and it was the most touching thing.

While retiring after so long in a position is emotional, to begin with, Luter’s retirement was extra special because her own son was relieving her of her duties.

Zenaida captioned the video: “Son relieving his mom MASTER CHIEF DEPARTING 30 years.” In the clip, you can see Zenaida’s son, James, a Navy sonar technician, as he stands in front of his uniformed mom and says, “Thank you for your services.”

They salute one another and embrace in an emotional hug as the crowd erupts in claps and cheers.

Luter commented on Zenaida’s Instagram post, “The love was/is definitely felt! Y’all really flew out to show up and my family and I appreciate it big time.”

What a special moment!
