The End of a Year, The End of A Decade, And Many Happy Homecomings To Look Back On

There are lots of familiar things that could be said at this time. There are lots of things that have happened over the last year for our military, both in terms of sacrifices and in terms of successes. We wish to end this year and this decade with hope for all who have served and especially for all those who are serving at present.

We share this video compilation of surprise homecomings of military service men and women to end the year on a high note and to begin the new year and the new decade with the hope that we can soon bring them all home and that, by God’s grace, peace might grow in this world that needs it so much.

We are certain of one thing; that our servicemen and women continue to be some of our greatest models of selfless service beyond the call to duty. They show us with their committed, daily service, at home and abroad, what one of the highest callings of citizenship in this “land of the free and the home of the brave” looks like. In their faithfulness to the oath they all took to “protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” with their time, talent, and if necessary, their very lives, they show us what our true national character is about.

We honor our active duty military and our veterans for the sacrifices they have made, and continue to make for the nation, especially over the last two decades post 9/11. They all volunteered for this. They have been called on again and again, to face those who are intent on doing us harm and they have conducted themselves with uncommon courage, dignity and dedication.

We can not thank them enough.

In this New Year, we offer our hopes and prayers that this year they will all be able to come home. Let us who have enjoyed the peace, comfort and prosperity of our daily lives in this country, make a commitment to do our duty toward these good and noble citizen soldiers, sailors, airmen, Coast Guardsmen and Marines. Let us commit to insuring that our government (and we ourselves) maintains its commitment to them in health care, education and jobs on their return to civilian life. They have earned it and it is our undeniable duty to give them their due.

The Veteran Site sends its New Years greetings and hopes for health and well-being to all our active duty military at home and abroad, and to our veteran community. We thank you for your service and wish to say, “Welcome Home” to all of you.
