The Navy’s Blue Angels Jet Team Is Getting Its First Female Pilot In History

Lt. Amanda Lee is making headlines after a historic announcement from the U.S. Navy.

She is joining the Blue Angels fighter jet demonstration team, and she is the first female pilot ever to be part of it.

According to the Blue Angels’ website, they have a team of 154 world-class active-duty sailors and Marines. They represent over 800,000 active-duty, reserve, and civilian men and women who are serving worldwide.

Considering the fact that there are so many who take part in this unique program, it’s amazing that she is the first female fighter jet pilot to be part of it.

Admittedly, there have been other women who were part of the team, but she is the first pilot that will be flying with them.

In 2023, there are actually six new demonstration pilots that have been brought on board. Lee is part of them, and in order to get up to speed, she will have to go through a five-month training program.

According to WCPO, the commanding officer and flight leader of the Blue Angels, Capt. Brian Kesselring, said: “We had an overwhelming number of applicants from all over the globe this year. We look forward to training our fantastic new team members, passing on the torch, and watching the incredible things this team will accomplish in 2023.”
