October 13th marks the 243rd birthday of the United States Navy. Watch this film and celebrate the event with a powerful picture of this force for good in the world today. It is the most diverse fighting force in our military arsenal.
Its history is long and noble, stemming as it does, right from the nation’s very beginnings.
This video gives us a glimpse of the wide ranging capabilities that the U.S. Navy can bring to bear when the call comes. The technology, expertise and commitment to excellence from the enlisted ranks to the officer corps, makes the U.S. Navy a powerful and effective quick response force across the globe, in war and in peace when the need arises. Best of all, the video reminds us about the family and support behind each and every sailor.
While it has been a mighty force — combining its air, sea, and land capabilities to fight in the nation’s wars yesterday and today — it has also been called on many times to bring its expertise and technology to bear in the case of natural disasters around the world. Our sailors responded to wide-ranging incidents like the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, the tsunamis in Indian Ocean a few years back, and most recently the crises in Japan.
The U.S. Navy has a long and proud tradition. Let’s celebrate this 240th birthday along with all those who are currently serving, those who have proudly served in the past, and the families who make it all possible. Go Navy!
