Police Officers Make History As The First Ever Mother-Daughter Duo In Their Department

When Nadia Adams was young, she was inspired by her mother’s strength and knew she wanted to follow in her footsteps.

Today, Adams and her mom, Robin Green, are the first mother-daughter duo serving on the police force in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Green has been with the department for the last 17 years, but before she was a cop, she worked as a firefighter with the Lafayette Fire Department.

Her job as a firefighter taught her about compassion and she really loved helping people. She knew she could continue to make a difference in the police department.

After watching how great her mother was as a police officer, Adams knew it was time for her to follow suit.

“I remember one career day at her school she wanted to wear my uniform shirt, and shortly afterwards she broke the news to me and told me she wanted to become an officer of the law,” Green told KLFY.

Adams went to UL Lafayette and graduated with a degree in criminal justice before enrolling in the police academy.

In the beginning, Green worried about her daughter, since she knew how much responsibility and risk this job holds. But after watching Adams succeed in her career, Green knows that she has nothing to worry about.

“She has proven herself and I sleep better at night knowing that she is strong and wise,” Green told KLFY.

The inspiring mother-daughter duo was honored by the Lafayette Police Department during National Women’s History Month for their hard work protecting and serving their community.
