8. TV Show Surprise
A wheelchair hasn’t kept veteran Joe Gracia from living a rewarding life. Gracia lost his leg in Afghanistan and has since formed a relationship with his caregiver, Nicole Stuller. After the television show “The Doctors,” where they treated Stuller to a surprise makeover, Gracia doubled down on the moment and proposed in front of a live audience.
7. No Joke
Canadian Forces member MCpl Daniel Gray-Owen surprised his girlfriend Stephanie, a comedian, a few days before she thought he was arriving home from Afghanistan. Gray-Owen had pursued Stephanie for years before finally getting to take her out on their first date just before he was deployed. The proposal was caught during one of Stephanie’s performances.
6. White House Proposal
The first few times Sergeant Ronnie Pulley asked his girlfriend, Boksil Choi, to marry him, she said, “No.” But Pulley was determined, and after Choi finally agreed, they had a small ceremony in Japan.
For their fifth anniversary, Pulley had something bigger in mind. With the help of a Pittsburgh nonprofit, Pulley, now suffering from renal failure, was able to propose once again.
“If I had three wishes, I would wish for three more lives with you forever, my sweet princess. I was asking, well, I wanted to know, would you marry me again?” he asked.
She said, “Yes.”
