Liberty will soon mean something more than freedom and independence to a disabled veteran. This heartwarming story of a dog named Liberty, a Belgian Malinois found at a Jupiter warehouse on 9/11, shows how important service dogs can be in the rehabilitation of disabled veterans.
Libby (her nickname) has been selected to undergo training as a service dog for a disabled veteran. As you can see in this inspiring video, Libby was the perfect candidate for the training program. Through the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Rehabilitation Program, service dogs are put through a year of training to learn how to do everyday tasks, such as turning lights on and off or picking things up to assist their owners.
