89-year-old Bryan Sperry is a World War II Vet and an alum of Kansas University. He played football for the Jayhawks in 1946-48 and played on their 1948 Orange Bowl team. When he returned recently for an alumni flag football game, Sperry said, “I had planned on trying to get in maybe, catch a pass. He threw me a few balls to see if I could catch a ball, and I could. I hadn’t figured on running, in fact I hadn’t run in years. I just wanted to get in for a couple of plays and maybe catch a ball.”
Oh, no. The other players had a different idea! Watch as Mr. Sperry runs 37 yards for a TD, all the while grinning from ear to ear! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
