A True Patriot: Justus R. Belfield Passes Away Peacefully, But Not Without a Salute

WWII and Korean War veteran Justus R. Belfield was a true patriot to the end. Belfield, 98, passed away on Wednesday, November 12th, at the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia, New York. Yet, Belfield will continue to touch the hearts of veterans everywhere, and through a picture.

In what has since gone viral, Belfield can be seen in full uniform throughout his last day on earth. His family has confirmed that Belfield was extremely proud of his military service, and that, if he were able to, he would’ve stayed in the military for years and years.

Rest in peace, Justus, and thank you so very much for your service.
