France to Honor D-Day Vets
On June 6, 1944, Allied forces orchestrated the largest water-to-land invasion in history, famously known as D-Day. The operation was ultimately successful in regaining control of Normandy’s coast from the Axis powers, but resulted in the loss of many soldiers on both sides.
This June, for the seventy-year anniversary of the tide-turning invasion, France will honor the surviving D-Day veterans with a two-month commemoration of the Battle of Normandy.
