Hungry and Homeless, Billy Ray Gave Up a Payday for the Greater Good!

There are few things more heartwarming than seeing a do-gooder rewarded for his or her kindness.

Whether it’s crowdfunding from complete strangers, or giant checks from generous celebs, seeing goodness acknowledged is just about as inspiring as it gets.

And when the recipients of those funds are homeless people, lives are changed forever.

When Billy Ray Harris was mistakenly given a diamond engagement ring along with a fistful of change, he brought it to a jewelry shop to verify its legitimacy. When the jeweler offered him $4,000, Harris knew what he had to do.

Rather than hock the ring for enough cash to get him off the streets, Harris realized that something so expensive must have a meaning deeper than cash. He held onto the ring and — shortly thereafter — the donor found him, and he was able to return the ring to its rightful owner.

Now, Billy Ray’s life has changed forever.
