This Police Dog Prevented More Deaths During A Recent Raid Against Terrorists Outside Of Paris
On Wednesday, November 18th, France (one of America’s oldest allies) sent an elite tactical police unit to storm a lair in St. Denis that they believed to be housing the mastermind behind the recent attacks on Paris. During this raid, SWAT-like units heard a 26-year-old woman screaming for help. They sent in part of their K9 unit, a Belgian Malinois named Diesel. Diesel’s fate that day was unfortunate, but she saved a lot of lives and made large contribution to the fight against ISIS. Here’s what happened…

France had sent a RAID unit to investigate the lair in St. Denis. RAID stands for Recherche (in English, Search), Assistance, Intervention, Dissuasion, and functions much like SWAT units in the U.S. (Special Weapons And Tactics). According to the New York Post, the RAID unit heard the cries of a woman saying, “Help me! Help me!” and “I’m not his girlfriend!” This lead them to send Diesel into the building to look for explosives.
But inside was 26-ear-old Hasna Aitboulahcen, the cousin of the mastermind behind the Paris attacks of November 13th. She did not need assistance and was, in fact, trying to trick the RAID unit. Aitboulahcen detonated an explosive vest killing herself and Diesel. The event resulted in a gun battle where one other person was killed and five were arrested.

Many innocent people have died at the hands of ISIS and, as of the writing of this article (November 20th, 2015), the casualties from the Paris attacks is estimated to be around 129. Many brave men and women died during these tragic events. Many brave men and women have died protecting them. Although Diesel is a dog, she reminds us of the bravery of our human heroes fighting against terrorism every day. It’s because of them —and because of Diesel— that we can rest easy knowing that the terrorists won’t win.
