“Dancing Chuck” Is A 97-Year-Old WWII Navy Bomber Pilot Vet With Some Serious Moves

This video is getting a lot of play time on the internet. We share this for the sheer fun of it, to lighten a little of the weight of this COVID-19 pandemic that we are all living through together, even if just for a moment.

Chuck Franzke, a 97-year-old WWII veteran Navy bomber pilot, gives us an exuberant example of the kind of attitude that marked the nature of our Greatest Generation. This is a guy that grew up during the Depression, who fought in history’s worst war, who has lived a long life and who clearly, “ain’t dead yet!”

Franzke and his wife celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in February. There are a few things evident in this video. Franzke is observing the social distancing requirements that we are all being asked to do, he clearly has rhythm and knows how to ‘bust a move,’ and he’s got more life and optimism in him than most of us.

He heard someone outside playing a Justin Timberlake song and didn’t hesitate to step outside in his socks and get into the music. We can only imagine what Chuck Franzke has seen and endured through the almost century-long life he has lived, but clearly this moment is not crushing his spirit and zest for life.

Let’s just enjoy this old Navy bomber pilot’s enthusiasm for life and try to borrow a little bit of that from his example.

Dance on, Chuck! You are the man!
