Peter Shaw loves bringing his father, Eddie, a World War II veteran, on weekly trips to the beach. But pushing around a wheelchair on sand is tough business. Deciding that there has to be a better way he decides to use his skills.

Putting all his engineering talent to work (and with some help from three friends and community donations), Eddie decided to build an amazing all-terrain, motorized wheelchair, featuring the motor of an electric wheelbarrow and a maximum speed up to 8 mph.

Now that he will have energy and his hands free for more beach activity with his father. The vehicle also has the shape of a small tank as a tribute to Eddie’s heroic past.

If you are impressed with this build then you need to check out how similar technological supports can significantly improve the life of veterans in wheelchairs.
