What is the greatest gift a person could receive? For some, a new body part or organ from a donor would be on that list. For others, having their first child is a gift they have been waiting for is another.
For most people, one of the greatest things they could receive is a house to call their own. Their own home; a place that is their own domain.
Thanks to one organization, one veteran was able to receive this awesome gift.
In a heartwarming gesture, Jerry Holcomb, a veteran of 13 years in the Army, was presented with a mortgage-free home during a July 4th soccer game. The distinguished sergeant was awarded two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars during three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
As of 2005, Operation Finally Home has provided mortgage-free homes for combat veterans. This non-profit organization has worked with local home builders to build homes for combat veterans, their widows, and their surviving families.
