Derrell Odom is a war hero who has been on two tours of Iraq, was wounded in battle, and subsequently decorated with a purple heart. Today, he works at a KFC restaurant for $7.25 an hour. In this impassioned testimony to the Atlanta Wage Board, he says, “I bust my butt every day, and I take pride in what I do.” Vets like Derrell deserve a respectable life where they can adequately provide for their families. They deserve the $15 minimum wage.
