This Furry Companion Turns A Veteran’s Tragedy Into Hope

Marine Corps Veteran Frank Giaramida suffered through the pain of war while serving in Iraq and experienced tragedy at home after losing his fiancée to a brain aneurysm. Now 6-month-old Scarlet, a German shepherd service dog, has begun to bring some joy back to his life. Giaramida had waited 2 years to get a service dog. But he talked of a black cloud being lifted as he knelt down to hold and bond with his new canine friend. The dog was presented to him while he was being honored for his service during a New York Giants football game.
