Every day, 22 veterans commit suicide as a result of psychological problems resulting from their years of service. In order to raise awareness and bring attention to the problem of vet suicide, Marine Corps vet and former presidential security guard Alan Thrall takes the 22-squat challenge. Thrall, a strength training expert, does 22 squats while lifting his own weight on the barbell, to the pace of the Marine Corps cadence.

Quite similar to Alan’s initiative is the Give Them 20 challenge, which expresses gratitude to the country’s vets. In this video, Jon Stewart shows his support and calls out another to do the same.
