Every Marine Who’s Ever Served Knows This Name Well

“Good night, Chesty, wherever you are.”

That phrase is familiar with any who have served, or are serving with the United States Marine Corps. Chesty Puller is the most remembered Marine of the 20th century, maybe of the entire history of the Marine Corps.

This short video will give you a very brief overview of this Marine’s life and accomplishments, but you will have to go somewhere else to get some of the quotes that he is famous for and that Marines love him for.

Lt. Gen. Lewis B. “Chesty” Puller.

He was and remains the Marine Corps highest decorated Marine. He served the Corps and the nation for some 37 years, retiring only because of the one thing he could not conquer, the natural vagaries of age and ill health.

Chesty left us on October 11, 1971.  But every Marine knows that he is still with the Corps.  That’s why they say every night: “Good night, Chesty, wherever you are.”  They know that he is still watching over his Marines.

OooRah, good Marine. Semper Fi!
