The bald eagle is the well-known symbol of America. Breathtaking in every way, from their beauty to their size to their strength, the bald eagle is truly a majestic bird. It’s no wonder that it is the symbol of America and our freedom.
Unfortunately, America’s national bird has seen its population dramatically decrease over the past several decades, due to a variety of factors. At its lowest, it was estimated that there were fewer than 500 breeding pairs left in the wild. It would have been a tragedy to see the bald eagle go extinct.
Thankfully, that is not going to be the case.
The Endangered Species Act is credited for helping the bald eagle population grow from fewer than 500 breeding pairs to almost 8,000. With the help of conservationist, protections, time the great bird’s population will continue to grow and thrive in North America for all future generations to see and admire.
